What's important?
Number sense is vital. So many students today know how to use a calculator but are lost if you ask them if 100 × 3 is larger than 90 × 4. Granted, so much is being covered so quickly in class that there must be some effort-saving support somewhere, but that only takes the student through the next test. I believe in some "old school" memorization and drills--not at the cost of the test on Friday, but to make the tests next semester easier to navigate.
Pricing
I charge $35 per hour. The materials, preparation, travel, and last minute texting that begins with, "Can you explain again ..." are included.
What if ...
... you have to cancel last minute? No problem, and usually no charge. I might have to cancel at times myself, so I'm happy to give grace most of the time. (If this is chronic, though, we'll need to chat lol!)
... you can't pay me all at once? I'll work with you, especially if you've already proven you're reliable.
... you decide to switch tutors? Not a problem. Life is too short for me to not want you to pick your perfect solution, even if it's not me. Do what works!
What levels do I work with?
I am comfortable working with math Pre-K through anything in high school, language arts in the same range, and other subjects depending upon the need for support.
